Is there an over the counter numbing medicine that could be used on an ingrown toe nail?

My son has an ingrown toe nail and he is wanting to fix it his self but he wants to numb it first. Is there any over the counter meds that can do this? Can he soak his foot in epsion salt? What can help with this? It is really painful and has been bleeding but he doesn't want to go to the doctor for this.Is there an over the counter numbing medicine that could be used on an ingrown toe nail?
I don't know of anything that will numb his toe, but if he is going to treat it himself, don't let him cut the corner of the nail off. Doing that will temporarily relieve the pain but will lead to another ingrown toenail in no time.

I have had these before and read about what to do - I tried it and it worked. What he needs to do is soak his foot in warm water for about 15 minutes to soften the nail. Then he needs to use something small (one side of a pair of tweezers, a nail pick, toothpick, anything that will work) to pull the corner of the nail up and out of the skin (might be a little painful). Then he needs to take a very, very small amount of cotton and wedge it under that corner of the nail so that it holds the nail up and out of the area where it was ingrown. He should leave the cotton under there until the toenail grows long enough that the corner is past the area where it can grow back in (he can change the cotton every few days though). Then, as long as he doesn't cut the nail short again, he should not have the problem again.

I don't know if I've explained it that well, but I read about this treatment on some medical pages on the internet, so it should be easy to find a more detailed explanation.

Good luck!Is there an over the counter numbing medicine that could be used on an ingrown toe nail?
I have used toothache medicine for different stuff. Not sure which gives the most numbing power, but you might ask the pharmacist.
Don't cut the nails so short.
try using orajel that will numb the pain.

at night put vics vaporub on it that will keep the toe soft and it also helps with the pain
