Listerine!!
It actually works!
I injured a toe nail (bent it back over the toe, ripping the majority of it off it's bed) and then after several months developed a white fungus which later spread to near by nails. You can easily search interesting and helpful information on the web such as: the fungus grows very well in the enclosed space and high moisture of a shoe, so I won't go over all that, but rather, just tell you that I soaked my toes in Listerine on a regular basis and periodically trimmed the nails back immediately following a soaking and eradicated the fungus from two nails. The original toe had more fungus and is taking longer to cure. Initially when I began soaking last spring, I soaked the whole foot for too long which caused a weird, but brief tingling sensation, and the skin on the bottom of my foot started a slight crack. I protected the crack with Vaseline which quickly healed and began tipping the tub in order to only soak the toes and once weekly seems to do the trick! (20-40 minutes) It was nearly gone in four months, but then I didn't soak it for several weeks and progress halted, but I believe it will be totally gone soon. Store brand mouthwash with the same Listerine ingredients worked too! Also, You probably transfered the fungus from your toe nails to your finger nails by using the same clippers for both. Obviously, don't do that. Own and keep the clippers separate. Smaller for finger nails, larger for toe nails and get to solving the problem quickly or it will get so far out of hand you can't avoid using internal medicine. Also, because my child forgets to not use my clippers, I sterilize them by setting them on the coffee pot burner for 10-15 minutes, but plastic on the handles melts, so use stainless steel clippers and keep them dry and clean. Wishing you the best!
you ahve to take a liver toxic antifungal for six months
or
you can have your nails removed and treat the bed with antifungal directly
they'll grow back
if it weren't painful and kinda gross, the latter is actually the bettersolution
I went through that (toes) and it was driving me crazy because I couldn't afford a doctor at the time -- somehow the nail kept growing out and it went away. BUT to avoid it, keep your OWN nail clippers and don't let anyone else use them.
The doctor can give you an oral medicine that will permanently take care of the problem. it is worth the money
A low cost vinegar home remedy for nail fungus has worked for many people, you can try this:
Simply place 2 drops of distilled white vinegar (available at any grocery store) at the growing base of the effected nail twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. The vinegar can be applied with a dropper bottle or if you prefer, you can soak a cotton Q-tip and apply the vinegar that way.
Next, this procedure will have to be continued untill the infected nail is grown right off the body. That could take 6 months or longer for an infected toenail.
It is important that not a single application is missed because if you do, any new nail that is grown that day will be susceptible to fungal reinfection.
After following this vinegar nail fungus treatement for about two months you should see normal nail growing at the base of the nail. But remember you must continue the treatment until the infected nail grows right off he body.
