What can i use on my toe nails that will make them look pretty without drying them out like nail polish?

after countless pedicures, my toe nails are destroyed (dried, cracked and yellow) I want to spend the summer letting them grow out and make them pretty again. so i am taking a break from nail polish. but the thing is, they look hideous. what should i do to cover them up and make them look pretty without continuously destroying them with nail polish? What can i use on my toe nails that will make them look pretty without drying them out like nail polish?
Hi,

My only suggestion is to buff your nails. But one of those big cushion like block files the salons use and buff your toes. After buffing your toesies soak them in warm and soap. Give them a good scrub with a brush to remove and residue.

Once you towel dry you should see a difference right away.

They are probably discolored because the polish isn't allowing your nails to ';breathe'; This doesn't mean you have to give up on nail polish just yet.. try my suggestion.

If this doesn't work i would definitely see a doctor just to make sure infections aren't present due to unsterilized pedicure tools etc...

Hope it works out!

*Step 1: Change Your Salon

Your toes shouldn't look like that. They shouldn't be cracked and yellow. Obviously, the people don't sanitize their tools correctly.

*Step 2: Consult Your Doctor

See if there's any cremes or medicated polished that you can use to reconstruct your feet. Ask about side effects.

*Step 3: Moisturize Your Feet

When you get out of the shower, put on some lotion or Vaseline on your feet.

*Step 4: Strengthen and Grow Your Toenails

Go to your local Family Dollar and purchase some nail growth and nails strengthener. These 2 products should repair your toenails.

*Step 5: Improve the Appearance of Your Toenails

Put a coat of clear nail polish on your toes one the growth and stregthner dries. Then, apply a simple pearl polish. It's light, simple, and it doesn't damage your nails. Hope I helped! ~鈾igorousVirgo1995%26amp;hearts:
Dry cracked and yellow......I'd pop to your Dr first to rule out a fungal infection.

If all is clear there then the yellowing has come from strong colours being used without a base coat. Nail varnish shouldn't really dry your nail out either, but if youre concerned get one that's either described as flexible or nourishing. Try pampering your feet, get some foot cream and slather it on especially around your toes then pop on a pair of cotton socks and go to bed. Get some cuticle oil and use as often as you can to nourish your nails and surrounding skin. Once your tootsies are looking a little more human try a simple french polish. Always use a base coat with any coloured varnish and a top coat to protect and give a higher gloss finish.
Get some nail polish that helps weak nails. You can buy clear kinds. Also if you are thinking of using nail polish, the best colour if you want to cover them would be a pink colour, it will look more natural. To keep them from being destroyed, keep them cleen, clipped and ensure to give them some breathing time without polish. Maybe every other week or so to let them grow naturally.
clear nail polish (i always heard and read in mags) is good for your nails. they tend to yellow when you leave dark colors on them for too long, or you got a fungus from someone else at the nail salon. But, if you don't want to use nail polish, I would recommend cleaning your toenails with lemon juice and salt do de-yellow, and rub oil on them to shine and moisturize.
Try the baby lotion in the pink bottle and then apply a clear gloss to your toenails. Try Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails Toe Polish. It strengthens the nail, moisturizes, keeps it healthy and prevents and heals damaged, chipped, or broken nails.
I really think that either a dark colored nail polish stained your nails, or you have some type of bacteria growing on your nails. You should see a doctor just to make sure.

If it is a fungus, try something like this. http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?p鈥?/a>

But for now Try buffing your nails with a buffing block, or using an all in one nail buffer/shiner. http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?p鈥?/a>

And put a nail strengthening top coat on.

Good luck :]
Buff them. Go out and buy a buffing block (most stores have them), and keep your nails clean and buffed. They'll look great without any polish. I do this with my fingernails and toenails because I get sick of the upkeep of polish; plus like you said, polish destroys my nails.
I am stuck on Band-Aid brand 'cause Band-Aid's stuck on me!

I am stuck on Band-Aid brand 'cause germs don't stick on me!

'Cause they hold on tight no matter what on fingers, TOES, and knees.

[[i agree with the band aid thing]]
lotion! i have toe nail polish all year long and i've never had a problem with bad nails because i apply lotion every night

you may want to go to a doctor too. dry cracked nails isn't normal!
Use a lotion every day on your feet/nails, than let them grow from root to tip. It takes about 3 months. Also, don't cut them - file them to get them shorter.
you shouldnt put anything on them so that they can grow out easily %26amp; you will have a new layer of nail

some stores might have something to help repair them like the clear nail polish
i say buff them. this will make them look shiny and will smooth them out. a great way to learn how to give yourself pedis
Get some Sponge Bob band-aids and cut them out to fit on your toenails. It would be awesome!
Um.. I think you need to go to the doctor if they're in really bad condition.
TELL YOUR BF AND ASK FOR A DIAMOND NECKLESS,AND CRY ALOT

pink band aids,
Since its summer I'd say get a good strenghtening base coat (essie has a few) and just keep painting them for the rest of the summer, then when it starts to get colder out and your not showing off your feet so much give them a chance to grow without polish.

Sometimes I find it helps to go a day or two without polish and use body oil on my nails, not as good as letting them grow, but better than showing off dried nails. I heard once that lemon is suppose to help get out the yellow, though I find using a nail buffer works too.
