How does someone get an ingrown toe nail?

I want to know so i dont get it again. Is there a way not to get it again? How does someone get an ingrown toe nail?
unintentionally. How does someone get an ingrown toe nail?
by cutting you nail wrong

they should be cut so they are rounded out, and should not be cut so short.

if they are cut short and the have a point on the edges then this will grow into your toe causing pain. while feeling the pain you will probably feel like you should cut it out and you will probably dig around and cut so much of the nail away from where it hurts, only jacking up your toe even more. this will cause even more pain, even swelling, and could become infected, and hurt for months and months afterwards.

so by checking out your toes every once and a while, making sure they are nice and groomed, you should not have any problems with ingrown toenails.
Oh unfortunatly I know a lot about this. You get them by cutting the nails to short. When you cut your toenails be sure not to cut the corners to short. A non painfull way of removing them would be to cut a V in the middle. (so be sure to wear closed toed shoes) by cutting a V the nail will quit growing in and begin to mend that V. Thus pulling itself out of your toe.
Usually from cutting the nail with rounded edges. You should try to cut straight especially with the big toe. My ex had like 3 really badly infected ingrown big toe nails. He had to have them cut out ... wasn't a very nice experience.

If you start getting one use something like one of those things for cleaning under your nails, to get under the sides and lift them up daily so it won't cut into your skin. And keep your feet clean.

Good luck!
