How to heal an ingrown toe nail?

I have a bad ingrown toe nail. I've soaked my foot in Epson salt before, and that kind of worked, but this time is a bit different. The skin is pretty swollen. Does anyone have any suggestions? Obviously going to the doctor is an option, but I want to know all I can do before that. As in, I want going to the doctor to be my final option. Thanks for the help!How to heal an ingrown toe nail?

Go to a doctor that specializes in ingrown toes, I have two really badly infected ones myself : / i went to a regular doctor about 7 times about it (lol) he gave me pills every time after that didn't work he just plain stuck to needles in my toes and ripped both my damn nails out (hurt like hell) and now they've grown completely back and are as bad as before (probably worse) so if you going to a doctor make sure he has some knowledge of the problem.
try clipping off the toenail[the part that hurts] try soaking it in water first to make the skin and toenail ';softer';
