Yup my toe is freakishly disgusting and i dont know why. Idk o and the nail is becoming super thick so yup doctors nurses or random people tell me what u think. Can your toe fall off if it is becoming purple and having a really really thick toe nail???
Its probabaly just infected, but If you keep it untreated and keep hitting a flippin soccer ball, yeah your toe will fall off sweetheart!=]

haha. Can your toe fall off if it is becoming purple and having a really really thick toe nail???
Yes it can if you don't get it taken care of immediately. Please hurry I don't know you but I want you to be okay and continue to play soccer at the same time. I know from personal experience. HURRY
sounds like it could be infected, it may fall off, but you need to go to the chemist and get something for it, if not it mite spread

  • I dropped a weight on my toe, and the toe nail blue. Will it fall off?

I dropped a weight on my big toe about 2 weeks ago. The nail is blue and black about half way up, starting at the base. Will it fall off?I dropped a weight on my toe, and the toe nail blue. Will it fall off?
yea it will...theres nothing you can really do about it...exept next time mabey wear steel toe boots when you work outI dropped a weight on my toe, and the toe nail blue. Will it fall off?
it's possible that the nail will fall off. although a new one will grow back soon enough. a similar thing happened to me and first, it was black and blue. then it was loose (it was slowly falling off/detaching). then, it fell off when the new nail was about 1/4 grown in.
OUCH! Not only does that sound painful but I'll bet you felt embarrassed when it happened.

If it were my toe, I'd hobble over to a doctor a.s.a.p. and have it looked at.

    Hope this helps.

Unlikely, especially if there is now white at the base. The discolored portion will slowly grow out, and be gone in six months or so.

My small dog by kicking his rear legs has worn off a toe nail to the quick what can be done?

As he is limping bad, and don't want to take weight on that footMy small dog by kicking his rear legs has worn off a toe nail to the quick what can be done?
Kicking his rear leg???My small dog by kicking his rear legs has worn off a toe nail to the quick what can be done?
Soak it in warm water, if it's bleeding pat some flour on it, then if you can try to wrap it up in a bandage loosely as to not lose circulation. Think of your finger nail being ripped off, if you had to walk on that hand you'd limp too. He'll be ok just try to help as much as you can.
If it is red and swollen he will need an antibiotic, the remaining bit of nail may need to be removed by your vet.I would take him to the vet either way,as the toe can get infected and it is very painful.Just recently been through the same thing with our daughters dog,the vet had to remove the nail and he is on medication.Good luck with him

How do i get rid of an ingrown toe nail?

help pleas, i have an ingrown toe nail coming on, it is not that bad jst now but i dont want it to get worse, any one know anythin to do to fix it?

thanks ... :-))How do i get rid of an ingrown toe nail?
Go to a chiropodist, who will be able to help.

In extreme cases, ingrown toenails have to be surgically removed or permanently trimmed (along the sides).

Make sure you wash your feet regularly in warm salt water to prevent any infection. How do i get rid of an ingrown toe nail?
This is gonna sound really gross but im sry, idt there is another way 2 do it.

You have to use nail clippers, nail scissors, or you finger nail to get it out of the skin and then cut it. Its a bit painful but the earlier you get it out the better. If it wont some out you can try soaking ur foot in a foot bath or last resort, a doctor.

To prevent further one's, try to cut ur toenails in a straight line.

Good luck, i know they hurt!
Just go to the doctor and they'll refer you to a 'foot doctor', they get rid of it with as little pain as possible... worked for me.
Probaly best to see the doctor, I wouldn't try removing it yourself, you could end up making it worse.
Pack the underneath with cotton wool, this lifts it up so it doesn't grow ingrown.
go to a podiatrist and have them cut the nail
Find a Chiropodist and they will sort it out for you.
    see a chiropidist
    Use a lawnmower

How and what should I do with my toe nail!?!?

My toe nail out of no where split in half horizontally. Why and what should I do to make it better? thanksHow and what should I do with my toe nail!?!?
My mother is a nail tech and this is what probably happened at some point you have had some damage to your nail bed you are lacking calcium or trauma to your actual toenail. Clip it as close to the toe without causing yourself any pain and let it grow out . Also as it grows keep it clipped to keep from further damaging your nail bed. Avoid wearing tight shoes as this will contribute to this problemHow and what should I do with my toe nail!?!?
If it split in the quick (where the nail is attached to the skin), put Neosporin (or something similar) on it, cover with a bandage, and contact your doctor. And try to keep it clean - the WORST thing you could do would be to let it get dirty, and then get an infection under what remains.

If it split at the top of the toenail, where the quick meets the dead nail (it wouldn't have hurt if this were the case), just file down the sides so it's not snagging on anything.

In grown toe-nail, ways of getting rid of this?

Ok well i have a bad in grown toe nail and i cant get a doctor to look at it or anything so is there anyway that i can get rid of it myself? (ps: i dont have any pain killer stuff for my foot)In grown toe-nail, ways of getting rid of this?
    go to a doctor.

    answer this please

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>In grown toe-nail, ways of getting rid of this?
    GO TO A DOCTOR!!!!

I know people who successfully dig them out themselves, but my brother left them untreated by doctor for waaaay too long and nearly had to have his toes amputated because they were so bad. As it is, they had to remove his entire toenail and the part that makes new cells, so he doesn't even have toenails on his big toes anymore.
go to a doctor my friend just had to get surgery on her toes cause she left them untreated

Does it hurt when you have to get your toe-nail cut because of an ingrown toe-nail?

I think I have to go to the doctors and get my toe-nail cut because of an ingrown toe-nail, so does it hurt??Does it hurt when you have to get your toe-nail cut because of an ingrown toe-nail?
just a little, the only part that would hurt is the shot. The doctors have to put a shot in your toe so it goes numb, then they spray it with some stuff that super freezes your toe. after that you cant feel a thing. they gut the side of your toe open that is ingrown, then they cut the toe-nail so that it is even with your skin, then they put it back together. for a couple of days you may have to soak your feet in some yellow liquid, then after that you shouldn't have an ingrown toe-nail, so long as you don't pick at it so that it grows back into your toe. hope that helps :)Does it hurt when you have to get your toe-nail cut because of an ingrown toe-nail?
Yes, it does, but it's not unbearable.

I have two ingrown toenails, but what I do is soak my feet in very warm water for about 15 minutes (or right after a hot shower) then very carefully cut them out myself. Perhaps you have a relative that could help you with it.

The hot water soak will soften the nails where they are not nearly so painful to cut out.

    Hope that helps!
If your physician decides that it is necessary to remove the entire nail, then he/she will numb the area with a local anesthetic, so that you won't feel the excision. The only pain that you may feel is afterward, like in any other type of surgery, but I'm sure the doctor will give you some pain medication to alleviate your discomfort. After a few days, you probably won't feel anything.
it is very painful but it feels better after it's done than continuing to have the ingrown toenail
A little as they inject locals to numb ,then after as they wear off some more,I had my big toe done.

Should I see a dermatologist for my toe nail sugery?

My toel nail is infected, I'm sure a surgery is to be performed. Please help.Should I see a dermatologist for my toe nail sugery?
no you would see a podiatrist

Could toe nail fungus be a symptom of diabetes?

It's not really severe, but I have it on my two big toes and one small one. I've had it since I was 9 and I'm 24 now. I don't have any neuropathy but my left toe just feels cold.Could toe nail fungus be a symptom of diabetes?
It is not a SYMPTOM, but the fact that it won't heal IS.

I had a similar problem 30+ years ago. I had Athlete's foot that wouldn't heal. The cause was Type 2 Diabetes! Once i got the diabetes under control, the Athletes foot went away on its own.

Contact you doctor and have it checked out. ALSO ASK for an A1C test to see if you are diabetic.Could toe nail fungus be a symptom of diabetes?
No, but high blood sugar can exacerbate any type of fungal growth. If the fungus gets down to the nailbed, it can interfere with nerve function and this might account for the cold feeling. Make a preparation of olive oil and tea tree oil. Wash and dry toes. Spread preparation around the infected area, and cover. Do this every day for a year. It's very effective.
See your doctor. There are medications available to treat fungus that has invaded tissue and can not be cured with home remedies.
    Check your blood sugar.

When i press down alittle in my toe nail it hurts really bad?

i dont know why? When i press down alittle in my toe nail it hurts really bad?
i have the same problem. mine looks normal but hurts when you touch it. i hope you get a good answer for the both of us!When i press down alittle in my toe nail it hurts really bad?
Yes, if your toenail is growing inward, even a little pressure causes quite a bit of pain. Generally the sensitve and painful areas are the sides of the nail around the tip of the quick of the nail. The nail is growing INTO the skin rather than up and out. Eventually you may want to see a foot doc and s/he can provide relief w a simple but invasive procedure in office.

    ************************

If it hurts the toe when you wear shoes it IS an ingrown nail. Even tho its just a toe, it can be immensely painful!
If it is the toe nail, this could be a toe nail fungus but I am not 100% sure. You might what to ask your doctor.

coral. What toe nail polish color looks really good on pale skin?
something pink-ish. some greens would look ok, depending on the look your going for. but for every-day, i would go with a light pink. or, you could always get a french manicure...they look good on everybody, and you don't even need polish =]
    Coral, melon colors
red, can never go wrong with red
Red, pale pink, nudes, taupe and lavender.
    hot pink or bright red
    red black..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think that nice bright colors look really pretty:)

    like:

turquise, hotpink, lime green, and neon purple

    :)
i think that on toes with pale skin pinkish colors are perfect but then again dark colors like burgandie will give it life
really just about anything looks fine....black looks kinda funny tho. rich purple is pretty good
i think like orange dark orange or Hot pink
Red, pink (hot or soft), blue, purple...stay away from orange, yellow, and green!
    Reds, pinks, and natural tones
Neon orange jk Red Red Red
lavender, pale pink, pixie pink, or coral
Black would look sooo cool w/ pale skin!!! top it w/ some red glitter and your good to go!! Anydark color against pale skin pops dramatically. I like that Revlon color I think it's called ';Vixen'; but I'm not sure.

if u perfer dark, but a coat of glitter on it, distracts the darkness and makes all the differenece
A frnch manicure would look perfect, however in addition pales wold look fine for example pinks, bronze, lilacs, and eeven just buffing your nails to a high shine woulld be good. Experiment to see which ones look best and which ones are your favourites.

    pale pinks.

Has anyone ever taken Lamisil tablets for Toe nail fungus?

My doctor is about to prescribe me lamisil tablets for my toe nail fungus. I know it can cause liver damage and they said that's why they monitor your blood work every month. I am still scared to take it.

    Has anyone ever taken it?

    How did it work?

Did you have any side effects?

Did it clear up your infection?Has anyone ever taken Lamisil tablets for Toe nail fungus?
I took Lamisil for about a month and it does work. A new nail started to grow out and it was looking really good. I've had this stomach toe nail fungus for like 3 yrs now. It's very embarrassing. I don't know how I got it but it may've been from getting my toe nails done. The only reason I didn't take it past a month was because my doctor messed up and only gave me enough to take for 6wks. I'm going back again next month and hopefully I'll get a three month supply this time. I also went it for the blood work and I was fine. I think the chances of it affecting your liver are pretty small. I also used to take this other anti-fungul pill from Colombia which I can't think of the name but I only had to take it once a week and it worked so good! Half my new was clear and looking really good. I took the other half off and I guess It was either because I did that or b/c I stopped taking it that the fungus came back again. I also stopped taking it cause I had my gall bladder removed and didn't wanna be taking stuff anymore. But nothing I do recommend you taking it so you'll get rid of that toe nail fungus. Trust me, I know how HORRIBLE %26amp; EMBARRASSING it is to have one.Has anyone ever taken Lamisil tablets for Toe nail fungus?
My father had taken Lamisil for nail fungus for years. He was on it in a ';maintenance'; mode, to control the nail fungus, I don't remember the frequency but he needed it every week or so to keep the fungus at bay. It never really was totally gone, although it did clear up considerably. Natural homeopathic solutions are great alternatives to prescription drugs and their side effects. This site discusses some of the most successful toenail fungus remedies available. http://www.nailfungustreatmentnow.com

I don't blame you for being scarred to take it. I don't like to take Acetaminophen because of the damage it can do to the liver. I pretty much deal with headaches because I just don't feel it is worth the risk. I personally would exhaust every other method before taking potentially harmful drugs.

I hope you have good luck getting rid of your nail fungus!!!

i am a lincened manicurist %26amp; to tell you that your nails are red cuz of the nail polish well we all should use base coat nail polish so it wont do that stains on your nails then after puting on the nail polish we should put a top coat so it wont smere and chip and well to try to take off the stain for the nail polish you should try taking it off with nail polish remover really well then if that didnt work you should try to buff your nail bed till the lines on your nails go away then you put on the clear base coat i should put on two coats put on one then let it dry then the other coat let it dry then you put the color you want and also do two coats then let it dry then you put on the top coatWhat is the best way to remove stain from nail polish after taking off polish my toe nails are stained?
Always use a clear base to prevent this, but use Hydrogen Peroxide on your nails for a few days with a cotton ball, and don't use dark colors for a while to give the peroxide a chance to work. =)
WEll always wear a clear base coat, so yuor nails don't get stained. THen put regular color on it. Then put a topcoat on so it lasts long.
u could just try painting over them, but other wise, u just have to wait for them to grow back normaly!

What is the best way to get rid of toe nail fungus?

For some people it can be difficult finding a natural cure to fight the embarrassment, disfigurement and the physical pain of toenail fungus. There are some (unnatural) internal medications available as prescriptions such as

    * itraconazole (Sporonox),

    * fluconazole (Diflucan),

    * griseofulvin (Fulvicin), and

    * terfinabine (Lamisil)

These medications have been shown to sometimes have side effects such as upset stomach, headaches, and liver damage. Mixing these oral medications with some other drugs can be extremely dangerous. They are very expensive as well, some of them can cost over $900 for just the treatment medications. There is a powerful reason why they are available by prescription only.

    There are alternative, natural products.

It is important to realize that any toenail fungal cure is dependent on continual daily use until the infected tissue is eradicated, and then still more time until complete new toenails are grown. When it appears that the fungus has been beaten, you must continue using your chosen type of cure until new nails are in place.

These healthy and wise living tips/methods mentioned above will help eradicate the most persistent fungi on your toenails or fingernails.

Do you match toe nail polish to anything?how about with pink dress?

As a crossdresser, i want to paint my toe nails and see how they look. Do you match the nail polish with the shoes or dress, or does it not matter.

What color would match with a pink dress?Do you match toe nail polish to anything?how about with pink dress?
I never match my nails with my outfit. I just don't think about it. And, usually, I don't match my toenails with my fingernails. But if it's a big party or something I'm ';preparing'; for, then I do match them with my otufit but that's like twice a year lol. With a pink dress, I'd do my nails magenta or plum.Do you match toe nail polish to anything?how about with pink dress?
Well if your going to dress up for an event I would match the polish with the dress. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter.

For a pink dress, i would go with pink, purple, or yellow. Maybe even black.
it does not matter wah color

and wid a dress you shud do either a manicure

or plain pink would look nicebut nothing like green or yellow

What nail colour should I paint my finger and toe nails?

I'm going for a dinner party and my dress is blue. Heels are black in colour. I thought of painting my finger nails black but black toe nails and black heels would be weird? What nail colour should I paint my finger and toe nails?
I don;t think you can go wrong with a pale or french manicure on your fingers and a dark red on your toes. If you wanted to do something a bit different, the opi 'lincoln park after dark' is a really glam gothic purple which looks fab - actual black will look too studenty i think and not at all glam. the chanel one 'flambe rose' is a lovely pastle pink which gives the effect of a french manicure without the drawing a white bit hassleWhat nail colour should I paint my finger and toe nails?
    Black sounds good, do it.
    Light purple or violet
Upon reviewing the swatch at Photobucket.com, there are a number of blues and navies that would work; the high-end manufacturers (e.g., Orly, Milani, OPI, Sinful Colors, %26amp;c.) have several shades in the ballpark of the dress. One of the more readily available blues that I would recommend, in the event the high-end options prove unsatisfactory, is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in #23 Marine Scene Frost.

Addendum: For certain events, a red or rose that blends with your skin tone might come across as a festive option for the fingertips, but I stand with my existing recommendation for the toes (viz., the aforementioned blues and navies)--shoes are available that will coordinate with the dress.
I'd go for a darker colour on my toes, dark red or brown maybe, and just a french manicure on my finger nails. In all honesty, how many people are going to notice your feet?
    definatly french manicure
    silver with clitter
GRAY!!! its the best colour at the mo'. Really glam and would suit your outfit beautifuly. it might sound kinda weird but just try it. its a bit more dressy than black, and red/french mani are boring.
go for natural color. get the glossy clear. Your dressing is in the dark tone, you don't need any more dark or bright color to distract people from your nice dress.
I would go for a french manicure for my fingers and a red for my toes xxxxxx
blue? otherwise they have these new black shades which are irridescent, I think Chanel had them %26amp; maybe Ruby %26amp; Millie..

By the way Rubie %26amp; Millie have won awards for their nail polishes, %26amp; I tried Bourjois also %26amp; they were very good.
    Navy.
Id go for a french manicure
    classic classy red!
why don't u try something more subtle...like golden tinted or maybe silver...not metallic silver...it will make ur nails stand out in a not so very obvious way...and it goes great on every skin tone
Definitely go with a French manicure and French pedicure. It's such a classy look, and it goes with EVERYTHING :)

have fun and good luck! hope i helped.
White is very nice. If you wear suntan hose or go natural it looks very clean.
    Hi,

Dont really know what that link was all about you put in for us too look at but it was a bad pic.

Anyways if your gonna go for a colour go for this...

    http://www.slapiton.tv/acatalog/opi_chic…

Its gorgeous everybody loves it the bottle shows it quite purple but its more like a classy black you know not as harsh.

Love it OPi sold 2 million in the 1st day of this colour being released.

    x
Go for a classy dark red nail varnish.

Like Chanel's Rouge Noir. Or stick with a neutral colour.
    purple
    Bile green/yellow!
    Well basically

You can paint your finger nails black because that is the IN colour for this year in [Nail varnish]

And then paint your toe nails clear or a very light colour

But not black because that would look like you havn't washed your feet in a couple of years =]

    Nice dress by the way

    xx
    pink
I would go with a dark red or burgendy on the toes and maybe french on fingers.
If Your are body color is bound than you need off white color nails.
Light blue or Purple and by the way then word ';colour'; isn't spelled like that its without the ';u'; British people put the ';u'; because thats how they say it with their accent unless you British then thats fine if your American change it! :-]]
any nail color in metallic or frosted shade. really brightens up the surrounding skin...
definitely a nice deep red. merry xmas!
    I agree with Adam C
A sheer neutral color would be very pertty...or a french manicure on both hands and feet would be really pretty.
Why not do a shimmery blue color?

  • What to do when a toe nail falls off?

My sister's whole toe nail fell off from her big toe. What should she do to ease the pain and what else should she do before it grows back completely? What to do when a toe nail falls off?
not much, except wait for the new oneWhat to do when a toe nail falls off?
I have nail fungus (that creepy guy on TV that gets under your nails and calls himself Digger the Dermophyte). I am on lamisil, very expensive but my insurance covers it. I have had several nails fall off due to the fungu. I have seen this alot with my patients too. She should see a dermatologist to see if shehas fungus and get treatment. Treatment takes a long time. I have been on Lamisil for over a year but I am almost clear!. As to the pain in her toe, at least its sandal wheather so she can wear those to not put pressure on her toe. A simple abt. oint and bandaid will help.
Get some antibiotics and have her soak her foot in salt water (with sea salt, not table salt) for half an hour in warm water twice a day to prevent infections that might occur within the open wound. If it's not bleeding, then make sure she cleans it carefully every day and keep the antibiotics on hand.
when my toe nail fell off i wrapped it up for a while after it happened and then when it started to heal i wore close toed shoes. my nail didn't grow back fully for almost a year ..so she could get a fake toe nail put on..
nothing she can do. and she shouldnt have to if it fell off because she stubbed it. if it is bleeding then she should see a doctor or if it seems like it may have been infected. put some antibiotics on it. i hope i can help but i am not a doctor. sorry! i hit a glass jar on mine and it bruised and then fell off. it grew back so just put on some ice it should be ok
    cover it with band aid
    keep it clean and covered
call a doctor, not yahoo answers... super glue?!?
Make sure you allow it to grow back without disturbing it. It will come out crooked and possibly stab into the skin. Make sure she cleans it with alcohol each day so it doesn't get infected either.

What color toe nail polish should i wear with this dress?

the dress is black and has white and silver in it. it's so pretty... and i'm wearing black strappy sandals.

oh, and this is for a piano recital btw :)What color toe nail polish should i wear with this dress?
Definitely silver, or pearl ish white. What color toe nail polish should i wear with this dress?
ok so paint them in a pattern balck then white then black then white just keep the pattern.or you can try half black and white nail polish on each nail.or you could do the bottom balck and the tips white.or the other way around.
Use a '; Sparkly'; Silver. Like a Metal Flake type of shiny.
    silver!!!!!!!
French. Or black nail polish with white design and silver glitter on it.
Red is classy, sexy and eye catching !
Silver. That way it will get shinny when the spot light is on you.

Would hydrogen peroxide work for my lifted up toe nail if its infected?

they've told me to use epsom salt and hydrogen peroxide for it does it really work?Would hydrogen peroxide work for my lifted up toe nail if its infected?
Yes the epsom salt does thats what a dr would tell you ..soak it 2-3 times a days use peroxide and try a lil rubbing alcohol...Would hydrogen peroxide work for my lifted up toe nail if its infected?
the peroxide helps killl the infection and dries it out and empsom salt if you read it says dont use on open wounds. So best thing is just to make a call to a doc and ask if u should do these things.

What are the best ways to fight the toe nail funghi at home?

I tried everything %26amp; nothing worked (short of taking the prescription drug Lamisil -- which doesn't always work either). I spoke to my chiropractor, who's in to all sorts of natural healing, %26amp; she recommended taking Black Walnut tincture (liquid herbal extract). I bought a bottle at the health food store (about $10.00) %26amp; took it 3 times a day for 3 mos. %26amp; it completely got rid of my fungus. It tastes great too, %26amp; make sure you buy the one chelated in natural alochol for the best results. When you see your new, fungus-free toenails growing in, you noticed a marked difference. Works like charm! What are the best ways to fight the toe nail funghi at home?
I had that problem once. I went to Walmart and bought some cheap over the counter stuff and it really worked good. Of course you could also find some anti-fungi stuff in grocery stores and pharmacies. I Haven't got the fungi back and I had that problem about seven yrs. ago. What are the best ways to fight the toe nail funghi at home?
Take garlic capsules. Also mash or grind some garlic and put it as a paste on the nails. Garlic is an natural antifungal.
Don't quote me on this but I've HEARD that slathering on Vicks vapo-rub, mentholatum...whatever on the offending toe, then covering the toe in plastic wrap then putting on regular socks and keeping it this way overnight...shower in the morning, do the same procedure the next night and for 2 more weeks then the fungus should be gone. Now, I have no proof whatsoever that this works, it could be total garbage...but it's just something I've heard from a number of people.
Try this product. It's not too expensive and seems to be pretty effective for toe fungus. http://www.vitabase.com/supplements/beau鈥?/a>

How does one take care of an ingrown toe nail without surgery?

I really don't want to go under the knife but my toe is killing me. I've had this for a couple months and it's getting to the point where I can't take it any longer. How does one take care of an ingrown toe nail without surgery?
My dad had an ingrown toe nail and said to cut a 'v' shape in the middle of your toenail and make the 'v' point as far down as possible. The nail heals but does so by pulling in the sides. It takes a bit to heal but if you do not want surgery, have a go. :) It worked for my dad. Keep it clean from infection with peroxide or even warm salt water to clean the area at least once a day.How does one take care of an ingrown toe nail without surgery?
MY SON GETS THEM ALL THE TIME AND HAS NEVER HAD TO HAVE SURGERY I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE THEY NEED TO PUT YOU ON ANITBIOTICS TO GET RID OF THE INFECTION THEN THEY NUMB IT ONE USE SOMETHING TO SNIP IT OFF NO SURGERY YOU GO RIGHT HOME AND ALL IS BETTER
How is it that a rabbit gets an ingrown toenail? I thought you'd get hair balls or fleas, but an ingrown toenail?

Soak it it the hot water before you attack it with tweezers.

Have ice packs ready to abate the pain.
get it yourself...hope you can stand the pain- hurts like heck when you have to dig something out yourself
you're gonna have to bite the bullett %26amp; see a podiatrist %26amp; get that professional opinion %26amp; do whatever is told to you man don't go messing with your feet
soak feet in warm water and betadyne . clip straight across the tip of each nail every week. I found ambesol ( stuff for toothaches) on a q tip lessens the pain a bit ,and wear socks to bed.hand cream on entire foot.
You do know that if you would have clipped it yourself right when you noticed it you would not be were you are today. But hey I don't want to sound like a mommy bunny. Any tooth pain reliever does work and you will have to bite that bullet my bunny and and clip that piece of nail out. It hurt like heck when I did it but I did it and it took several tries. But the relief after is well worth it. I clipped the edge of the nail and than grabbed it and pulled that puppy out. Good Luck. Love, honey
    Amputation
I pull that bad boy out with tweezers. Seriously. =)
If it is growing into the sides then you can cut a v-shape right in the middle of the nail. The nail grows toward the cut part away from the sides. Make sure to keep an eye out for infection and use something to keep it clean and sterile. I've used hydrogen peroxide.
You may be to the point that you need a Doctor. Try to trim the toe nail (on an angle) and pull the extra piece out. It's going to be painful and bleed a bit. Then use plenty of peroxide. Good Luck to you.

Is it strange for a man to go barefoot, wearing dark toe nail polish ?

Would you be offended if you saw such a person for example sitting next to you on a plane ?Is it strange for a man to go barefoot, wearing dark toe nail polish ?
    Strange -Yes

Offended-NOIs it strange for a man to go barefoot, wearing dark toe nail polish ?
NO why in the world would somone get offended by that??? i might would giggle a little bit but I would defineatly not be offened...... Each to their own i say, and more than likey i would think they were goth gay. lol
I would not be offended by a man going barefoot and wearing toenail polish. There is nothing strange about it. If anybody assumes that a man wearing toenail polish is gay I want you to think about something. Have you ever took the word assume and broke it down and took a good look at it? It comes out to be ***-U-ME. If we assume something it might make an *** out of all of us. Wearing toenail polish does not make a man gay. I'm a man and I wear toenail polish. I like the bright colors, red is my favorite. I'm not even close to being gay. I started painting my toenails because I wanted to try something new. I have enjoyed it so much that I'm going to keep doing it. I have enjoyed the compliments that I have got from women. I know there are some people that have negative thoughts about me wearing toenail polish but I don't care, their opinions don't mean nothing in this world to me. If there are any men reading this that wants to try toenail polish, I encourage you to do it as soon as you can. You have got a life to live and you don't need to worry about what anybody else thinks. If anybody wants to try something different, something that everybody does not approve of, I say do it while you still have a life. Don't worry about somebody thinking you are strange or weird.
i'm not sure if they'd let anyone on a plane, barefoot. it would kind of creep me out, a man wearing dark toe nail polish. so, i would say that yes, it is strange. however, that is only my opinion.
No I would not be offended. Lots of men paint their nails black depending on their style. I guess if that's what makes a person happy, that's what does and that's their business. My husband doesn't do it, and it would look strange on him, but I can think of some old boyfriends that I could picture doing something like that.

The black is a fashion statement. If it was red, I would definitely find it harder to look at, but I would still not be offended!

Personally, if one can have fun like that, more power to them. He wasn't showing off anything obscene, it's only nail polish and people like to be different. Don't be a sheep!

I would hardly judge a person a being gay (a previous answer) for wearing nail polish! My best friend that I grew up with is gay and I could just picture him saying how ugly that is - he's not extremely feminine, but is very fashionable.
Hey!!! Whatever floats your boat but please, have a pedicure!

    Lol Have fun!!!
Hunny a guy shouldnt be wearing nail polidh in the first place..ew..unnattractive
Why would I be offended? It's strange as in unusual but there's nothing wrong with going barefoot or with men wearing toenail polish. I'd point to my own bare feet with, at the moment, silver polish.
That sounds like Goth, and some persons might find it strange if not offensive, and may be uncomfortable.
the nail polish would just tell me that he was probably gay, and unless the feet smelled or looked gross, it wouldnt offend me (but i would think it was unusual)

  • How long does it take for a toe nail to grow back?

my wifes toenail recently fell off. she went out dancing and wore some boots. she came back with her toes bruised. and now one toenail fell off. How long does it take to grow back? How long does it take for a toe nail to grow back?
It'll be a year before they are back to normal. It'll be about 6 mos before they come back out, but they might be all wavy and weird looking for 6 more mos. You can always paint a fake nail on with nail polish, but I'd just let the nail bed heal. It's winter anyway, just cover em up until Spring! How long does it take for a toe nail to grow back?
I had one torn out playing soccer. It took about 5 months to come all the way back.
It takes a very long time to grow toe nails back. Especially the big toe, it can take up to 10 months. I would see a Dr, as I have never

heard of bruised toes having the nails fall off, unless they have

been smashed and need the blood drained out of them.
it may never grow back, depends on how much damage she has to nail bed

How do I make my big toe nail fall off?

Hi, my toe nail is all black on my big toe and the nail bed is really soft and feels like the toe isnt attached. Is there any way to make the toe nail fall off quickly or can i just pull it off. Ok, I believe, given enough time to heal, the nail will fall off on its own. Don't mess with it.

Uh oh, I'm gonna hurl again.....How do I make my big toe nail fall off?
I remember when I was a kid, my dad made his fall off by soaking it. That softens it up.

Or go to the Doc and they can remove it for you.
i suggest u dont try to remove it, because u might just cause further damage. let nature takes it toll. it will fall of naturaly.

btw i spend alot of time in the ocean, and i have realise sea water causes most of my nails to break off.
Try soaking it in epsom salt water, that will do the trick.

I cut off most of my toe nail to the point where the skin is showing underneath my toenail?

should i be worried it looks bloody and i put some hydrogen peroxide on it i cut of most of the toe nail yesterday and this morning i applied some hydrogen perodxide on it and also in the afternoon. will my toenail get infected if there is no nail on it? how do i keep it clean?I cut off most of my toe nail to the point where the skin is showing underneath my toenail?
I would keep using the hydrogen peroxide morning and night, and perhaps try to cover the exposed raw part with neosporin and a Bandaid. The neosporin should keep any infection from starting.

Also, you may want to see your doctor about the fungus. Usually that just comes right back unless you've treated/killed the organism that causes it.I cut off most of my toe nail to the point where the skin is showing underneath my toenail?
stop using peroxide and let it heal on its own. keep it dry and uncovered. use neosporin at night. otherwise, LEAVE IT ALONE.

What is the best lighting and exposure to capture the wonder of toe-nail fungus ?

Natural light is always best. And if you can manage it, early morning with the foot in a snow-drift.

If you can't time that right, use daylight-balanced compact fluorescent lights and white seamless paper as a backdrop. Uncooked bacon draped around the foot adds a nice contrast. What is the best lighting and exposure to capture the wonder of toe-nail fungus ?
Personally, I think it looks best by candlelight, but there are ways to mimic the effect. Paint the toes a nice orange-yellow. Come to think of it, there might me fungal treatments that have that color. What is the best lighting and exposure to capture the wonder of toe-nail fungus ?
The on-board flash should do. Now, i suggest f/11 at 1/200 of a sec, manual mode. Toe-Nail fungus pictures must be taken differently than other pictures.
Well first, dip the lens in boiling water to sterilize it. Pour some more water into your camera body, especially on the camera sensor. It'll improve performance and keep things clean.
i use halogen lights, they warm the feet and encourage the fungus to appear as well as being bright and annoying.
    Ring(worm) lighting, of course!

Apply an imidazol based cream 3 x a day. Wash feet daily and dry thoroughly. Expose feet 20 minutes a day to direct sunlight. Burn old socks and buy new. Do not use tennis shoes.

I have a blood clot in my toe nail. Its growing out but my toe is also in pain?

Is this normal or should I see a doctor for this?I have a blood clot in my toe nail. Its growing out but my toe is also in pain?
go to the drI have a blood clot in my toe nail. Its growing out but my toe is also in pain?
Blood clots are not really good, and from personal experience, i know how much they can hurt(I have had 3 in my ear, 1 removed).

Ask your doctor if it can be removed and if there's a way to prevent them. My friend said I should be on a blood thinner if I get clots, but my doctor never even suggested anything like that, and he's a specialist.
its normal but if it bothers you to much your doctor could lance it, its not pain full and it would relieve pressure in the toe.

Is it very painful to have a doctor remove an ingrown toe nail?

My husband is having this done on Thursday. We were just wondering what other's exeriences with this may have been.

Thanks. Is it very painful to have a doctor remove an ingrown toe nail?
The only painful part about it is the injection to numb the toe before the procedure. And the injection isn't all that bad. Little stick from the needle...then a little burning from the lidocaine. After that you feel nothing. Pain afterward is minimal provided you follow the doctor's post op instructions. Is it very painful to have a doctor remove an ingrown toe nail?
Its a catch 22. It has the potential to be a little painful but the immediate relief of the ingrown toenail pain is well worth it. Good luck
the only bad part is the shot to numb it...but it's not really any worse than any other shot. My doc took out part of the nail root so it wouldn't continue to ingrow. Had both my big toes done about 20 years ago and it was a piece of cake and I've never had a problem since!
My son had both big toes done several years ago......it didn't feel good.....definitely the shot hurt, and when the dr. cauterized it, it stunk! It looks pretty gross, too.
The doctor will numb the area before removing it. It is a very simple procedure and well worth it. NO MORE PAIN!
not too bad, im a girl and i could handle it. besides, it will feel way better when its gone,,,,,trust me!
    No, only the shot.
yeah, well, at least that is what my boyfriend says.... sorry for the bad news...
Listen! My best friend was in the military for years. And he always had ingrown toe nails removed. He said the first few times he had it done (because his always grew back) hurt but then he got used to it. He said after a while he started to enjoy the feeling of them removing them. His were so bad that they are going to remove the whole nail and (i forget what it's called) the thing that produces the nail. Hey tell your husband ';good luck'; and it'll be over in a jiffy...
i am not sure but my younger sister haad one removed when she was only a baby and she did not ever cry one bit. relax i'm sure that your husband will be ok

What should I do about my big toe nail?

While on vacation I accidently let the weel of my suitcase hit my toe while I was trying to pick it up. It already being very week because i've stubbed my toe lots of times pretty bad, my nail got pulled back. So now about three days later, it's still attatched just to the root. It stings a bit but nothing unbarrable. I'm afraid to pull the whole nail of because it hurts pretty bad. what should I do?What should I do about my big toe nail?
As a life long ingrown toenail sufferer, I feel your pain. I know different thing etc. etc. Your nail will fall off by itself. I don't see any harm in you helping it a little by pulling it off yourself but be careful. Just to be on the safe side, I'd go see a podiatrist. It might cost you a little but whatever you spend would be worth it. You could avoid any sort of complication or avoid the risk of contracting any type of airborne fungus. I mean why run the risk of growing a deformed toenail that wont allow you to wear sandals? What should I do about my big toe nail?
If the underside of the nail is completely separated from the nail bed, taping it down will not cause the two to reattach. Some warm Epsom salt soaks will be antiseptic for the nail bed, toughen up the nailbed, and possibly soften the nail. You can get some toenail clippers and slowly clip it down to its line of fracture. Do not just pull it, you could impair its ability to regrow. If this all sounds like more than you and a friend or family member wish to take on, let a doctor take care of it.
I say keep a bandaid on your toe to keep the nail on, you have alot of nerve endings under there that will hurt really bad by removing the nail. Plus if you are prone to stubbing your toes alot, think about how bad that would hurt with no nail protecting the delicate tissue. OUCH!! Best thing to do would be to see a doctor, you may get an infected toe as well and to be sure that the entire root isn't falling off or your toe nail might not grow back.
Use a bandaid or a piece of medical tape to secure the nail to the bed. If it's still attached the the root you don't want to pull it out as you injure the matrix(where the nail grows from.) If you can go see a doctor, they can remove the nail and suture it back in place so that it grows back intact.
    1. you could bite down on something and pull it off yourself

    2. bit down on something and have someone else pull it off

    3. go to the doctor and have them pull/cut it off

    4. tape it down and ope fr the best, but expect the worst (and I dont mean ganggreen cause I think that would be the worst case {hope you dont smell almonds :P})

    5. not really sure whatelse there is to do, but if it comes off it might feel better after the pain of it coming off goes away.

    good luck
Go to the doctor and they will help you with it. A nice shot for the pain and then they will remove the nail and clean it up. The good news is that you will get a few pain pills that should help you get past the pain while it heals up.
Go ahead and pull it off. You will be fine. When I was a kid I dropped a bottle of soda on mine and it came off about a week later. I just pulled it off and I was fine.

    To all Girls, and Fashionistas,

    REMEMBER BRIGHT SPRING COLORS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black or white Hot pink orange red light greens Lavenders. But people have a different view of the world like those weird Gothic people and all the way down to little preps. Like take me. I would put on Bright colors but not loud. But its your choice. I go by the season and that white is always in. Go for french manicure. Its the most in right now if u really wanna know. So go for like rhinestones and hot pink or orange white you know what ever works for you and looks best. I looked in a magazine and they said the colors that have been in are light but not dull. You want to use bright colors that bring our your eye colors, but only on your finger nails. Black is OK. Just don't wear it every day. Change around if you are going to wear black. This is coming from a real Nail Designer Herself. Take my advice! If you are looking to buy any Nail polish whatever color it may be choose Chanel Nail Polish.

** Even if you don't electe me best awnser PLEASE Take my advice.
from what i know...black is still the ';it'; color. Try getting a bottle of the Chanel black polish. A few months ago people were paying crazy bucks on E-bay to get it.
    Bright purple.
Bright, summer colors...pink, lime green, bright yellow.
    girl, it was never black.

how about try a sweet pink or cute tangerine for that spunky look. Try red if you want to be daring and sexy. Teal, yellow, purple or anything bright for the wild look. Naturals look good too if you want to keep it simple. ANy of those colours are HOT!

ABSOLUTELY NO NEON! its tacky and from the nineties.

if ur still in trouble, don't sweat it. Just go for a colour that matches your flip flops and/or peep toe flats.

Have fun and have a GREAT pedi!

    %26lt;3
I've never used black. . . I don't think there's a particular color everyone uses. You should use whatever looks good with your skin color.
since it's spring something bright like hot pink, orange, or lime green.
Personally black isn't my favorite I think you should try a shade of pink.
In March I read that this year's colours were neon/simplified -as opposed to the shimmery styles of the last few years, I suppose. Nails - neon or clear/nude.
Black toe nails? EEEKKK! I love black, wear it everyday. . . .but not on my toes. The ';IN'; color is. . . . metallic darker pink. Rimmel makes a great shade this color. Look for Rimmel nail polish at a local retail or drugstore. . . . you'll know what shade I'm talking about when you see it. It's bright, fun, and goes with anything. I can't specify the color, I was bored and peeled the sticker off the bottle.
Pastels are the must-have colors for spring. For your finger nails black is in.

Most Effective Product To Treat Toe Nail Fungus?

My husband has suffered from a re-occuring toe nail fungus condition for many years. He's tried lamisil and a couple of other similar products we saw in stores, but nothing seems to work. His toenails are getting more yellow in color and uglier. Any suggestions on a more effective toenail fungus treatment product? Please advise. Thanks for your help. Most Effective Product To Treat Toe Nail Fungus?
Hi. I've worked in the construction field for several years and have to wear steel-toed boots which aren't all that comfortable.

I had developed a similar toe nail fungus condition like your husband....so I understand your concern.

However, I was able to cure my condition and had tremendous success using an athlete's foot treatment product that also effectively treats toe nail fungus that I found online at http://tinyurl.com/eliminatetoenailfungus.

This website provides a great all natural product to help you get rid of toe nail fungus.

However, depending on the severity of your husbands' condition, it might take more than a week before he notices any remarkable improvements ....but the stuff definitely worked for me, and I was happy with it and I'm sure you will be too.

I am trying to do my nails at home to save money but I am so clutzy! Any tips on putting it on and taking it off without making a mess?Toe nail polish removal at home can you help?
I was taught to soak the cotton ball in remover and place it on your big toe with moderate pressure or whatever toe and let it sit for 10 seconds or so, then push down and wipe, away from you. Toss that cotton ball, get a fresh one and repeat. Now it will be easier to finish it. This especially good when trying to remove dark colors. Finish up the corners with a damp q - tips.Toe nail polish removal at home can you help?
The best tip for applying nail varnish is not to overload your brush. Don't put it on in a rush, allow plenty of time and apply two thin coats as opposed to one. I also find applying a top coat helps save the varnish from chipping (and therefore saves having to reapply too soon). I always use toe separators - best piece of kit ever! If you don't have any of these, use either cotton wool or tissue to separator your toes. Good luck!
Well there is a substance that is called nail polish remover, or something like that. And all you have to do; is rub it on your nail polish and it magically goes away.... Plus it dosen't cost much, you can purchase some at your local drug store.
start with a thin coat then let it dry and try another thin coat

unitl you have them the way you like them . also they have

toe spreaders that are very helpful, that works great.

taking them off be careful useing something that you can thown

away aslo put something down so it won't get everywhere.
Try pure Acetone. You can get it at Walmart or Sally's Beauty Supply.Makes polish instantly come off!
Put a paper towel or something under your hands/feet, have lots of nail polish remover and q-tips close for any mess ups, do it on a flat and stable surface. good luck!
They have little pre-soaked sheets of nail polish remover sold at any drug store. They make it much easier and less messy.
You can use nail polish remover which you can get at drug stores for like, 5 dolars. Also, If you mess up while youre painting them, than just have some cottonballs or qtips close by that have nailpolish remoover on them and wipe any mistakes off.

2.After letting dry, make a flower with white nail polish by simply making little dots for the petals.

Pale pink would go with both dresses.
Pink will work with either outfit.
for the pink dress a nice light barley there pink

For the black a nice simple red
i have purple and i love it but with that pink dress white or pink
I always love deep red, or black. Neither will go with the pink dress, but both work for the black.
For the pink dress, obviously a matching shade of pink would be best. Or even white or a French manicure. Anything goes with a black dress, depending on how fancy it is, you could go with deep reds or something a bit bolder to be more elegant, or something lighter (like pink) to be a bit more neutral. I would say that French manicures are always the safest bet.

How do you stop bleeding from a dog's toe nail?

You can apply some flour, but you can also buy a product called quick stop. I would guess you don't have that, so use the flour.

If he's bleeding a lot, you might need to see the vetHow do you stop bleeding from a dog's toe nail?
use styptic--availableat walmart or at your vets.if its really bad the dog nds to go to the doggy ERHow do you stop bleeding from a dog's toe nail?
    Corn Starch is best
    take him to the vet
Keep ice on the nail until it clots. It may take sometime depending on how short you cut the nail. Next time you clip your dog's nails, look closely at the nail and you will be able to see a white tip and a black part that connects to the paw. As long as you don't cut the nail past the white tip, your dog will not bleed. On some dogs, it is hard to see the line between the dead nail and the vein, so ask your vet for some clipping advice. Good luck!
    Let him lick it?
I completly agree with bobbie v, she pretty much said it all
If all this wont stop it you will need to go to the vet they can die from this.
I'm assuming you don't have something at home like quikstop for when you accidental hit the vein when clipping nail, but how about the man of the house (if there is one). Many time, men have a styptic pencil or the like and that can help. Otherwise, try some cornstarch or flour and pat some on the toe nail to help it clot and stop bleeding.

    Good luck.
PUT CORN STARCH ON IT AND HOLD PRESSURE.
You can by a styptic powder called Quick Stop, that works the best. If you don't have it, press some cornstarch or flour onto the end of the nail and apply pressure for a few minutes.

What's the least painful way to take out a in-grown toe nail by yourself?

    if there is one...

thanks! What's the least painful way to take out a in-grown toe nail by yourself?
Right. You don't need to see a podiatrist or anything crazy like that. Just see your everyday, run of the mill doctor. If it's painful, it's probably already infected.

Clip the very front of your nails with the clipper, but don't try working on the sides / corners / whatever we're calling it with the clippers. That is usually how they will get ingrown in the first place. Use the file. And it is still possible to sharpen the sides of your nails with the file, to the point where they will start to get ingrown, so be careful, it's hard to explain in writing. Your doctor can totally show you how this is done. What's the least painful way to take out a in-grown toe nail by yourself?
Don't try and take it out by yourself otherwise you could end up by making it worse.

I suggest you go along to a chiropodist and get it seen to there.

They have ways of properly dealing with that sort of thing these days.

Old Frodo and Bilbo went to see one once and they never looked back.
I wouldn't attempt it. But one trick I learned to stop them from getting worse is to file a ';V'; in the middle of the nail (at the top of course, where you file.) The nail automatically grows in to fill itself in the middle, thereby NOT growing out to the sides.
well take a shower or bath first, maybe soak in some Epsom salt. Then trim your toe nail. Then with tweezers gently go about taking it out.

    Good luck!
Use a Stanley knife or a Soldering Iron, remember precision is the key.
get the doctor to do it. If you don't you'll just get it infected or something so do yourself a favor
There isn't a way. Go to the doctor and they'll do it for you. :-)
sorry but there is absolutely no way you have to get surgery sorry and good luck!!

  • How to get rid of an ingrowing toe nail?

Im guessing its an ingrowing toenail, its on my big top in the cornor on the right and its red and shiny and its swollen and its killling!! it is soo damn painful. how to i get rid of it or stop the pain? please it kills like mad!!How to get rid of an ingrowing toe nail?
i have had a bunch of those, you have a couple of options, you could try to dig it out and stuff some cotton under it for a month or 2 so it will grow in right, or you can go to a toe doctor and have it done in a small procedure which i have done before where they just cut that part of the toenail off and dig it out to. i have done both. it only hurt for like 10 min after both. How to get rid of an ingrowing toe nail?
Let it grow out and then only clip it straight and keep it long enough so that it does not grow back in.

By cutting toenails like you do a fingernail (rounded) you can cause your toe nails to grow inwards.

Do not try to pick or cut it at the side of the toe it will grow right back and then you will have the same problem.

Sometimes soaking your toes a while before you cut them helps soften them and the skin around the ingrown toenail.

In rare cases a doctor could remove the nails and in some cases they can get infected

Best to let them grow out straight and cut them as long as you can stand them.
go to a sheropitist (dont know how to spell it)

there a doctor for your feet

they'll remove the bit of the nail thats gone into the skin

Any way to get rid of an advanced toe nail fungus?

every nail has it, some of them have curled into what I can only descibe as tubes. They are very difficult to clip, if anyone can give me advice on that it would be much appreciated. I take so many perscriptions already that I have had one doctor tell me she wouldn't perscibe my anything for it because of potential liver damage.Any way to get rid of an advanced toe nail fungus?
This is a difficult one. You have onychomycosis, and it is very difficult to treat.

Topical antifungals (creams, ointments, lotions) are not very effective at getting rid of the infection...

There ARE some medications that can be used to treat it, though - like terbinafine, itraconazole, fluconazole, and griseofulvin.

You have to take the medication for 3 months, it can be very expensive, if you are on other medications there can be a lot of interaction problems, and even if you aren't on any other medications these medications can cause liver problems.

HOWEVER, you can obtain blood labs before and during treatment to monitor your liver, and the medications could be stopped if there was any sign of liver problems.

But the last bit of bad news is this:

Even if you convince a physician to prescribe it and you monitor your liver with blood lab draws and you find a way to pay for it and you take it for 3 months:

There is still a fairly high failure rate and you might have to repeat the treatment with one of the other medications...

AND...even if you ';cure'; it...and get rid of the infection completely, you will have around a 20-50% chance of having a recurrence in the future...

    =

I don't want to discourage you, but am only providing you with the facts.

And if you are really determined to get rid of it, then talk to your doctor again armed with this information. Ask to get the lab draws to monitor your you liver and tell your doctor you are willing to accept the possibility of failure and recurrence. At this point, your doctor should agree...

If not, see another doctor or ask your doctor for a referral to a dermatologist, who will certainly help you.

If i took the top half of my toe nail off because it was black will it still grow back?

well a few months ago i dropped a 2.5kg weight on my toe and it went black for about 3 months, yesterday i took the top half of it off but the bottoms still there. it was bleeding abit though will it still grow back like it was before? If i took the top half of my toe nail off because it was black will it still grow back?
You should have went to the hospital because of the weight but since you could bear the pain I guess it was fine. But most likely the nail will grow back and it will be fine. Since it was bleeding you must have took a lot of nail of . I am not sure if it will grow back black if it was just from the weight it will probably be fine unless it was fungus if it was fungus it might grow back black. If i took the top half of my toe nail off because it was black will it still grow back?
It will grow back but seek medical advice so u can get rid of the problem
yes it will, i have to do it all of the time.

Part of my toe nail is disconnected from my toe?

To put it simply, I started tap dancing. Lots of damage to my feet. And now the left side of my toe nail is disconnected from my big toe. What should I do? Pull it off? Will it grow back? Any precautions I should take to make sure it doesn't get infected? I have absolutely NO idea what to do at this point. If it helps, before it got disconnected, the nail was bruised, all green and blue. Egh. PLEASE HELP! THANKS SO MUCH!Part of my toe nail is disconnected from my toe?
The same thing has happened to me through soccer. Dont pull it off. And dont worry it will grow back. Just remember to clip it when it starts to get long, especially around the part that is coming off. The toenail grows from the bottom so the ';oldest'; parts are at the top. If you keep clipping it, eventually it wont be there. Sorry if this doesnt really help but thats what i did. Part of my toe nail is disconnected from my toe?
Tape it down until it grows out, then clip it off.

Use an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.

  • Toe nail trimming, and aggressiveness. What should I do?

I need to cut my dogs toe-nails drastically, and he gets aggressive when i try to do so. What should i do?Toe nail trimming, and aggressiveness. What should I do?
Take him to PetSmart and let them clip the nails - costs about 10.

In the future - when you take your dog to the vet for his shots/check up etc. Ask the vet to clip his nails while you are there. Usually costs about 8-10.

My dog hated to get his nails clipped and I'm just not very good at it or fast.

Well worth the money to just drop by PetSmart and get them to do it. Then you can buy him a treat on the way out.Toe nail trimming, and aggressiveness. What should I do?
He's AFRAID! Deal with that. Visit this site to learn about how dogs can be helped to feel more comfortable with things that bother them.

    www.fearfuldogs.com

Do a search on youtube for a film by Canines in Action about Tucker's nail trim. It shows how in one session a dog was helped to feel better about having his feet handled and nails trimmed. If you've ever cut the quick and hurt the dog you've got to take that into consideration as well.
If they are really bad, I would take the dog to the Vet or a groomer and pay a pro to have it done. They are used to dealing with any type of situation. After his nails are groomed properly, I would make sure that you keep up with it on a regular basis. You can start by desensitizing him with touching and playing with his feet often. I personally like the dremel tool vs. a clippers. But if it is a small breed, you can just use a toenail clippers if the nails aren't too thick.
Muzzle her and have someone hold her while you clip her nails, if this doesn't work you can try and see if a groomer may have any luck with her and if that doesn't work then take her to the vet to have it done.
Put a muzzle on him to be safe, then clip them, very slow. Don't be sneaky, don't rush it. We want to make the process a good 5 or 6 minute process instead of a quick clip clip we're done job because this is the perfect time to train him against aggression. I'd order a dominant dog collar off of Leerburg's website, when he shows aggression whilst being groomed/nails trimmed or whatever, use the dominant dog collar as the instructions suggest. It works for me. Good luck! I'll put a link in my ';source'; box.
you use a muzzle if he/she is touchy with their feet start in the evenings just sitting an rubbing their feet without doing anything one paw at a time of course just to get them used to their feet being touched make sure you have Quick Stop in case you hit the quick also if this doesn't work for you I'm sure your local Veterinarian does it or a Pet Store
muzzle him,, or take him to a groomer,, His nails should have been being cut WEEKLY since you got him... you will have to start my allowing him to handle his feet.. and get used to that before you can ever think of clipping the nails..
You could try this on a baby step basis...

    http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merensjp/d鈥?/a>

    Treats! Treats! Treats!
I have the same problem with my three dogs. I take them to the Vet to have their toe nails trimmed. It costs $5.- per dog and is really worth it. Good Luck.
    1) buy a mussel and enlist a friends help

    2) take him to a vet

    3) take him to a groomer
If you have to buy a muzzle it will help.only use it for that.

What to do about a black toe nail?

My 2 year old son dropped a heavy object on his big toe and after a few days a black bruise has appeared under the nail. Its not on the nail as it does not move as his nail grows. It is not painful to him but it happened a few months ago and it shows no signs of going away.

I have shown the injury to a nurse who told me that it was not infected and there is nothing to worry about.

However it would be nice to know how much longer it is likely to be before it goes completely?

Anyone else had a similar experience? What to do about a black toe nail?
You could try these. Not sure which will work for you. Include in his diet, raw cabbage, and parsley. If he does not want to eat these vegetables raw as a part of a salad, then you may make drink such as carrot or beet juice and blend in small amount of each. (Not so much to overpower the taste of the main juice)

Freshly juiced orange is also good to include in his diet.

You may crush about a quarter to a half clove of garlic and mix in with his meals. Garlic is a very good blood thinner and so will work well to disperse blood.

Externally you may use the following

Soak bruise area in warm water. Or spread a towel dipped in warm water over the the affected area and left to cool. Repeat this process 3 to 4 times per day.

Or Crush a hand full of parsley and apply to bruised area. Apply regularly with the fresh herb. You could use bandage to hold herb in place.

Or Bathe the area with Witch Hazel two to three times per day, which disperses the blood and encourages healing. Or you may soak a gauze or clean piece of cloth in Which Hazel and bandage to affected area. What to do about a black toe nail?
My best friend's son had this problem. It is a blood clot, don't panic. it's just a bruise where blood pools in one place. On any nail, it takes long for it go away, but it will. If it starts hurting, then there is pressure developing under the nail and it has to be released. So if that happens, take him to the Pediatrician, but otherwise, he should be alright in time. Keep a watch on it. If he cries, or winces when you put his shoes on, then you know he is feeling pain.
The nail will continue to grow and eventually the black will be gone. Just think how much the nail grows in a month. For the black to go completely could take 6 months. If the nail is black all over it will eventually die and will come off almost as a whole nail. The new one will form and grow when that happens.
Yes, many times. This is what I do, I sterilize a needle and clean the site. Relax the kid, this doesn't hurt, but some kids get jumpy, insert the tip of the needle between the nail and the skin, again there is no pain. The needle should then go easily into the area, remove and watch the old blood flow out, wash and use any good antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandage.
my toe is black at the top. i went doctor and he prescribed tablets witch was one a day for 7 weeks. he thought i had fungal infection. i looked up toe nail fungal infection on the internet and it says that toe will be yellow or green. anyway its not fungal infection. ive had mine for about 9 months and still have it. ease your mind and look up black toe nail on the internet.
Yeah, I've done that landing ski jumps wrong. It'll take a few months or so to go away, depending on how fast the nail grows. I would think it would take relatively less time in a 2 year old as they are growing faster.
the black under the nail is dry blood, nothing really you can do, unless it bothers him, and nail replace themselves.just make sure he has no infection there.
I have had similar with my toes nails and fingers and they can take an awfully long time to go away. Just one of those annoying niggling things I am afraid.

It takes a long time. Anyone who's ever hit their thumb with hammer knows it takes months. Its nothing to worry about.
    paint it white!

Failing that... it will go away over time.

Bruise on my toe nail still hasn't healed? Should I wait to let it heal or see a physician?

A while back I dropped a piece of lumber on my big toe. It has been 4 months now and the bruise is still there. It does not hurt at all though. The color is a dark purple and has not faded very much since the injury. What should I do?Bruise on my toe nail still hasn't healed? Should I wait to let it heal or see a physician?
those sorts of bruises can last years, there isn't anything the doc will do about it, unless it becomes painful or shows signs of infection.Bruise on my toe nail still hasn't healed? Should I wait to let it heal or see a physician?
There may be blood under the toenail. My son had to have a hole drilled in his toenail to let the blood out. I would see a doctor to have it checked.
You can only release the blood collecting if you put a hole in the nail within an hour. You do not need to see your doctor. The dark purple colour is just dried blood and will grow out with the nail which will obviously take a while.
If there is no pain or swelling do not worry. The discoloration is from blood vessel rupture when the injury occured, it's just old blood stuck under there. It will go away as the nail grows out which can take 6 months to a year depending on your age and general health. Idropped a stock pallet on my toe in November, it has only grown out about half an inch so far.

cut the very center part from an onion and put it on the infected area and cover with a bandage but not too tightly--only enough to keep the onion in place--do this before going to bed and when you get up in the morning it will feel a lot better--if it is not healed repeat the next night--this is an old home remedy that really works--i used to have this problem a lot in my teens--to prevent it from happening in the future be sure to cut your toenails regularly but not too short

What to do with a toe nail that looks like it may come off?

A large heavy rock fell on my toe and injured the nail but still has not fell off so should I try to remove it or let it fall off on its own? Its been a week ago. What to do with a toe nail that looks like it may come off?
Let if fall off on it's own. If you pull it off you risk infection. When the area underneath it is ready to be exposed to the elements (sort of like scabbing over a cut) the nail will fall off on it's own. Then, a new one should grow back soon. Sorry to hear this happened to you! OUCH!What to do with a toe nail that looks like it may come off?
Snatch It Off ...';Sissy'; : )
after a nice long hot shower try to wiggle it loose if there is no pain pull it off, if there is pain leave it and try at a later time. If any pain at all leave it. I had the same problem when I finally wiggled mine off the nail underneath was growing back. I waited like 4 weeks...shouldn't have felt much better once it was off. Mine had the dry blood from bruising under it...not a clean situation and I think its cleaner to get it off and cleaned. Sorry about your accident I know how much it hurts :(
to tell you the truth i'm not going to tell you to pill it off cuz it can get worser. use warm water and hand sanitizer. soak the toe nail with the warm water and let it sit. for a minute now slowly wipe it off(gently) and try not to pull so hard and let it slide right off.

My fungal infection is beneath my big toe nail and is possibly spreading to other toes. Can I dab bleach on?

I have had this problem for some time and tried the usual medications (incl. tablets for one year!) but no solution. Surely dilued bleach cannot be harmful as thats all they put in swimming pools!!My fungal infection is beneath my big toe nail and is possibly spreading to other toes. Can I dab bleach on?
Bleach will not kill the fungus. You could use Vicks Vaporub on the toenail........or tea tree oil. However, if the infection is deep under the toenail you may eventually have to get a foot doctor to look at it. Try the Vicks Vaporub, massaging it into and around the toenail, at least once a day, and see what happens. My fungal infection is beneath my big toe nail and is possibly spreading to other toes. Can I dab bleach on?
You can put it on your toenail, however I don't think this will cure your infection, I was a nail tech for several years and saw this alot! Your doc can perscribe you an oral med, but it can take several years to get rid of this, if you go to a salon they have topical treatments that work pretty good, but all you can do is keep treating it, and keep it as dry as possible, as mold needs moisture to keep breeding.
Don't think it would get rid of a fungus, have you looked at your diet - its often linked to high sugar in the diet, like candida is, and can take a long time to clear. Perhaps check out candida websites and try less sugar and taking good quality probiotics for a while see if that helps.

I've not read this web link but just put it as an example

    http://www.fungusfocus.com/fungus/fcandi鈥?/a>
Don't be so ridiculous. Bleach is a very corrosive and harmful substance to human skin. You need an anti-fungal cream such as Daktarin. Ask your nearest pharmacist for advice. Odds are that he/she won't send you round to ASDA for a bottle of Domestos.
You can try that and also put some Vicks vapor rub on toes before you go to bed, and yes it can spread to your other toes. Toe nail fungus is really hard to get rid of. Google a search for toe fungus; there are other remedies listed.

I haven't had this problem but have heard tea tree oil works for conditions like that, check it out at the local health food store.
My Great grandma's Secret Medicine ';Gentian Violet'; Give it a try .It usually fixed the spores and eventually die.
I had this problem 2 months ago, i read that 100% tea tree oil was a winner. I gave it a try and bingo, it's gone! I used to dip a ear cotton bud into the oil and apply it to the whole nail, making sure it was well rubbed in and let it dry. Give it a try, hope it works for you too.

By the way go sockless as much as possible, and white socks if you must wear them.
Completely remove the nail to get at the nail bed; this is where the fungus lives, than some of that brush on stuff is liable to work.
For quite some time now my father and I (both doctors) have been using copper sulfate to treat toenail fungus. It's cheap, easy to use, and works like a charm.

Warning: If you are allergic to sulfur or sulfur drugs - don't use this. Also - if any burning occurs - discontinue immediately and rinse off, chances are you have a different issue.

Tx: Put one tablespoon of copper sulfate in a bucket with enough water to cover your toes. Soak them for 10 minutes every day for about 7 days. Your feet will turn blue, and your nails will turn a dark brown/black. This is when you can stop the soaking. One the nail is dead it will grow back clean - takes several months to regrow your nail - but worth the price. You can use the same water, or get new water ever time you soak your feet.

Copper Sulfate can be found at the pharmacy or the feed store. It is a lot cheaper at the feed store.

It works by killing the fungus - if you have fish, you already know this, as it is often used to kill off the fungus in the bowel. In addition it is what is often used to treat the hooves of horses.

    Good luck.
I used bleach.. took 10 years but its finally gone

Have you been able to get rid of toe nail fungus without prescription medication?

It makes taking my shoes off at the beach an embarassment. What have you tried? How faithful were you in applying the remedy? What were your results? Since the prescription pill has a possible side effect of liver damage my physician does not think it wise for me and I agree. I have tried soaking my feet in a vinegar and water solution, but seemed to be quite a lot of bother and I was not very faithful and of course got no good results.Have you been able to get rid of toe nail fungus without prescription medication?
This might sound strange---but it does work!! After doing some research for my own nail infection I have found the following to be very effective..... Rub Vicks ointment or Mentholatum on the infected nail. Wrap the nail with either a very secure band-aid or a piece of duct tape. Leave the nail covered over night. (forgot to mention-do this right before you go to bed) After about 1-2 weeks, the fungus area should start to turn a dark brown to black---this is a good thing.. You then need to let the dark area grow out on its own. As your nail grows-cut off the black area when able. My Father has problems with nail fungus, and insurance will not cover the outrageous cost of the prescription drug available for this. He tried it and it worked. I've done it -doubting that it would work-but it did! And you can't beat the minimal expense of the supplies needed.Have you been able to get rid of toe nail fungus without prescription medication?
I have had an ongoing fungus for years. I recently delivered my daughter (naturally) %26amp; and according to my dr. bruised both big toes under the stress of pain. As a result of the nails falling off, I re-developed the fungus problem I had mostly fixed. I had been scanning Yahoo answers with the same question as you. I saw someone said Gentian Violet topical solution had worked for them. My daughter had thrush and used this med. to clear it up. Thrush is a type of yeast infection and toe fungus is a type of yeast too. I tried the med. on the big toes by just applying it to the nail. The fungus seems to be subsiding again. The stuff is purple and will stain everything! So be careful. You can remove it from skin with rubbing alcohol and immediately from clothes with that or hairspray (most clothes stains). You can get the Gentian Violet at any drug store. I never had luck with creams, tree tea oil or Lamisil. Also try to remove as much of the nail as possible to allow for new healthy nail re-growth that has always helped in the past %26amp; this time too. Making any fungus is bothersome and tedious but if you want the problem to go away stick with it. I understand the feeling of embarrassment but it is a common problem. I鈥檓 trying to hurry and fix it before my daughter can talk and ask me what is wrong with my toe. That鈥檚 embarrassing! Summer is coming soon. Good luck.

    Good Luck!
I finally went to my doctor (podiatrist) 3 weeks ago and he gave me some stuff called NailEsse made by BioEqual and distributed by EuroEssence. It's a topical solution, not a prescription, and he has it at his office for $50, plus the office visit cost. BUT it's working! It's a homeopathic remedy with plant oils in it. You put it on the affected area twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). And I'm telling you, it's not getting rid of what is already there, but the new nail that's growing out doesn't have fungus! My fingernail that had it is completely normal again! I can't wait for my appointment on March 2nd to show Dr. M. the good results. You can get more information at www.euroessence.com. Good luck!
I've heard soaking them in hydrogen peroxide and then putting vasoline on them every day helps. What this does is:

    -Hydrogen peroxide kills the fungus.

-Vasoline shields the nail from any other infections allowing the bad nail to grow out with healthy new nails.

As with any toenail treatment (over-the counter, homeade, or precription) it will take a few months before you really see any affects and could take up to a year before you're completely healed.
just like you I have tried all of the over-the-counter medication applications but none of them worked. I went to the doctor and took the liver test. After going through all of the testing, he prescribed me some sporonex (spelling could be wrong). It worked wonderfully. The good thing about it, I didn't get any side effects. My health didn't depreciate any and the majority of the fungus in my toes were gone.
I have heard that vicks vapor rub is great.

How do I get rid of my toe nail fungus?

I'm too lazy to see a doctor. But how can I get rid of it?How do I get rid of my toe nail fungus?
If it is fungidali then you should certainly go to the doctor asap as this infection can quickly spread to the heart and lungs and cause a very painful death within hours.

How this helps. How do I get rid of my toe nail fungus?
Go to the drug store and buy a product called ';FungiCure';. You have to use it in the morning and at night, but it works..
    wash yo feet

Why is my big toe nail slight yellowish colorand not pink like the rest of them ?

could anyone give me some advice or atleast tell me the reason for that? Why is my big toe nail slight yellowish colorand not pink like the rest of them ?
Sure, it is most likely a fungal infection. You can leave it, treat it with a prescription, or try the over the counter treatment at your local drug store in the footcare section.

mayoclinic.com has a symptom checker if you ever need it. It is a good tool.

    Hope this helps.

Will a toe nail grow back after toe nail fungus?

My toe nail had fungus and it turned it really bad yellow. The nail was already coming off on its own. So I got the clippers and clipped it all off. The layer of nail now is the one under and its very thin, will my official toe nail grow back?! I really need help, I dance and most of my dances require me to be barefoot and my toe nail isnt so presentable. Plz help! Will a toe nail grow back after toe nail fungus?
yes! of course it will grow back! dont worry! :)Will a toe nail grow back after toe nail fungus?
I most certainly can understand your concern. Not so long ago, I have been dealing with the same issue. Yes, your toenail will grow back, but unless you treat the underlying issue, the nail fungus, the nail will not heal itself and come back healthy.

I have tried many remedies I read about on the Internet - from vinegar to Listerine, Tree Oil, you name it. The only thing that helped me finally was Zeta Clear.

If you go on their website you will also find a lot of good information about the problem. Nail fungus is a long term problem that does take some time to clear up, so getting 2 month free helped me a lot too :)

Well good luck, and I hope this helps!
It does grow back. It's happened to me a couple of times but of course the nail that comes back still has the fungus. Other people have told me that it may not grow back, but from personal experience that isn't the case.

Personally, I've tried a lot of different stuff over the years. I had dealt with the combo nail fungus and athletes foot for almost 20 years. One ';free'; thing that did help a lot was vinegar.

It didn't help much with the nail fungus but it completely stopped the athlete's foot that I was also suffering from.

In the end what finally fixed my loong term problem with nail fungus was Zeta Clear.

Another thing that I did that probably helped was throw out my old shoes. I have heard that the fungus can live in your shoes and return after treatment. So to avoid a relapse I made sure to get

new shoes and throw out the old ones.

    Best of Luck!

Oh, and I put the link for the stuff I used below if you wanna check it out.

be appreciated.I know someone with toe nail fungus is there something they can purchase from Wal-mart or somewhere similar?
heres a wierd one but it works-takes a while cuz u need the nail to grow out before u really notice it( year or so)

    wash and dry completely

white vinegar toes tops, bottoms and try to get a little under nails as well

when that dries put vicks vapor rub on top and try to get under nails as well do both things everyday

i know it sounds strange but its no joke it worked for my hubbyI know someone with toe nail fungus is there something they can purchase from Wal-mart or somewhere similar?
Lamisil is good. Soak the toenail in hydrogen peroxide on a daily basis for a while. Use diluted bleach solution or go swimming in a chlorinated pool.
they need to get an anti fungal pill and ointment from the pharmacy, they will need a prescription from a Dr. for these poducts.
    why Wal-mart??

the best place is the doctors or Chemists
Try Vicks Vapor Rub. Apply to the infected area morning and night. It works. For this and more home remedies go to:

    http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/index.asp
Wal-mart no longer sells nail fungus, because it's just too easy to catch it from the other customers for free.
there's no need to spend good money on an ';antifungal'; treatment, and no need to use any chemicals that may have side effects worse than the fungus.

Plain old vinegar works just as well, first rough up the surface of the nail with an emery, (so the vinegar can penetrate the nail better) and then soak the feet daily in 1/2 cup vinegar in 1 gallon warm water for 20 minutes. the vinegar creates a slightly acid environment that not only kills the fungus, but prevents it's regrowth. do this daily for several weeks, and remember it takes about 6 months to grow an entirely new nail, and those expensive (and dangerous) prescription products take just as long to work.

So go to WalMart, but instead, get a half gallon of vinegar for about 2 bucks, and a plastic dishpan to soak in (don't use it for anything else but feet)
whenever i had an infection i used to go walk barefoot in the ocean dunno but it helped
soak them in a solution of tea tree oil which is a fungicide. You can even put it straight on to the nails but soaking the whole foot in a bucket of water with the tea tree oil added is best.

Fungal nail, characterised by whitish powdery nail tissue, is extremely difficult to get rid of. The only really effective treatment is available under prescription from your friend's medical practitioner. Lamisil is usually prescribed for this condition, and it can take several months for the fungus to be killed off. It is important that once the treatment is started, it is kept going regularly and not allowed to lapse, otherwise the patient may have to start the course all over again. Obviously, he should also be ensuring he follows regular foot hygiene at the same time.

As the treatment progresses, the affected nails will be seen to be clearing from the root or base of the nail, and the clear zone will move outwards towards the tip, but be prepared for this to take many weeks. However, Lamisil is effective and will work well, one simply has to be very rigorous in following the dosage guidelines. This fungicidal medication can affect other organs, such as liver, albeit usually mildly and not permanently, but the prescribing doctor may want the patient to have occasional blood tests carried out during the course of treatment, just to make sure all is well.
go to doctor and he will precribe lamisil pills ussually 60 days and its all gone maybe even 30. But after your done taking pills you must get your blood taken to test your kidneys to make sure there ok. Good luck.
Tea tree oil or the whole slew of products at the feet fungus section. In the meanwhile she/he should wear cotton socks and powder their feet daily.
you what everyone else has said and tell them not to wear nail polish or anything like that and dont file the nail too
there is a product call TINEACIDE don't remember if i got it at W/M or one of the big drug stores...if you do not have a fully involved nail it will work but you must be persistent and use it EVERY day...if you have nails that are fully involved only a Dr can help...it is very expensive and usually not covered by insurance...although you can always check...i would see a Podiatrist if you have insurance...good luck
www.lamisil.com this works like magic., you nees to go to a doctor or e.r and tell them you want to know if you can get this.
then just ask people who know
It is very difficult to clear the fungus with any topical solution such as the ones typically offered at drug stores. Topical solutions clear the fungus less than 20% of the time. You need to refer them to a dermatologist to get some prescription strength oral medication. That is what worked for me.
