I don't know what was involved when your toe was ';worked on'; (doctor or other health care professional??)
But think the best thing to do is to call the office of whoever worked on your toe. They would be able to give you the best advice.
Ingrown toenails can cause infections, but to the best of my knowledge, not gangrene. ( See overview section of
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ingrown_t鈥?/a> )
However, I am not sure of how it was worked on, and the potential complications of how it was worked on.
I found this at the familydoctor.org site
Ingrown toenails (excerpt)
What should I do to care for my toe after surgery?
..Call your doctor if you have problems with the area, such as increasing pain, swelling, redness or drainage
You might also take a look at the Infections page from the
American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
(http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/fact/thr_repor鈥?/a> )
I'm a medical librarian, not a doctor.
But I am hoping this information helps.
Again, please contact whoever worked on your toenail!
Even if this is normal, at least you will know and will have peace of mind.
If you have any questions, or think I can help out further,
please email me.
In the meantime I am wishing you well.
JaniceIs it possible to get gangrene from an ingrown toe nail?
Thank you to whoever took the time and so graciously voted.
I do appreciate.
But more so, hope the information helped.
Best,
Janice
